Health Advances was founded in 1992 by Mark Speers and Paula Ness Speers. Leveraging their experience at Bain & Company,
where Mark was a Partner in the Healthcare Practice and Paula led the R&D Practice, these founding partners set out to provide
early-stage companies with high quality advisory resources and deep industry insight.
Skip Irving joined in 1997, contributing industry experience and many years of experience leading Arthur D. Little's worldwide
Healthcare Consulting Practice focusing on strategic planning and portfolio analysis for pharmaceutical companies. His knowledge
of venture investing and biotech company formation added depth and breadth to the Health Advances leadership team.
In 2006, Health Advances was pleased to promote Marie Schiller to Partner, recognizing her impressive tenure advising our clients
and her previous industry experience at ArQule, Inc. and GelSciences, Inc. Our teams and clients benefit from her pragmatic approach
to translating technical insights into a business framework.
In 2010, Kristin Ciriello Pothier was promoted to Partner. Kristin leads the Diagnostics and Life Science Tools Practice at Health
Advances, a practice she was instrumental in developing using her previous years of experience from Genome Therapeutics and
Genzyme. Kristin and her teams work with clients on their global commercialization strategies for novel products across the clinical
diagnostics and life science sectors.
Vice Presidents Andrew Funderburk, Kimberly Howland, Sheela Hegde, Susan A. Posner, and Tracy Walters round out a solid management
team by offering industry experience and practical business solutions for our clients.
